DEATHMARCH 2012 – Zombie mode update

It’s a new year & we’re still here! After DEATHMARCH 2012 I took off on holiday for most of January, now we’re back & busy making our contribution to end the world as you knew it. Before we get back to our (ir)regularly scheduled programming, just a quick review of our stated goals for the DEATHMARCH and a look at where we want to take things in the new year.

Website redesign:

Well we got started! The lethargic development strategy we sought to employ quickly got swamped by client work which is good on the one hand but now we’ve been stuck with a site jury-rigged around 2 different grids for months already haha.

Next most important thing is probably an about page, as we really need to be doing a better job of articulating what the hell it is we sit around doing all day.

The biggest bottleneck for real progress is filling the new archive, and we always warn our clients about how much work sorting out their content is going to be…

Retail:

We have tried a number of outlets, the most successful of which is currently our store on Society6 where you can buy Prints, Framed prints, Canvases, iPhone Cases, Laptop Skins, iPhone Skins, Hoodies & T-shirts featuring our work. We’ll be concentrating our efforts there for the time being, but as always remain available to discuss cool commissions or collaborations.

The Quest for Representation:

Turned out to be less of a quest and more of a trip to the corner store. We’ve talked to a couple of agents and art directors, it’s clear that we need help with acquisition, however finding the right fit isn’t easy. We operate visually in a niche that isn’t safe for the commercially conservative. We’re staying there.

If you are (or you know) an agent or art director with jobs that fit our style you should get in touch with us.

More Bullshit:

I’m confident that we delivered on this count. Notes were out on a weekly basis, and almost every doodle created while waiting for Photoshop files to open over the course of last year was posted up, those will be compiled & put out as a poster at some point too.

In conclusion:

We worked hard, to the point of near burn out at times. Gained a few clients and dropped a few too. We have established a whole new rash of processes that don’t work for us, and found a couple that really did.

Regular news will continue to come out this year, we had a lot of good feedback on the weekly notes so the format may change slightly but something like that will stay. The updating of the site will continue, as will our push outwards as we slowly shift the focus of our studio more to illustration and graphics.

Stay tuned as we catch up on all the news from January over the next few days and then head on towards the heat death of the universe.
